Our Story
In the fall of 1984, God called Bishop Lamont Herrington and his family from Annapolis, Maryland, to Troy, Alabama, where he began pastoring a local congregation. Alongside his wife, Sis. Tamara Herrington, they faithfully invested in people through prayer, jail and prison ministry, nursing home outreach, home fellowship groups, women's conferences, and the consistent preaching of Jesus Christ.
During this season, their daughter, Eleyce, was born, joining their sons Wesley and Nathan.

Becoming One Ministry
In the late 1990s, Bishop Herrington developed a close friendship with Pastor Dorothy Moore, who faithfully pastored Bible Way Church in Greenville, Alabama.
Following Pastor Moore's passing, Bishop Herrington accepted the responsibility of leading both the Troy and Greenville congregations. What began as two separate churches soon became one united ministry with a shared vision of reaching people throughout South Alabama.

A New Beginning
In 2001, construction began on a ministry property in Butler County that would become the heart of many church gatherings for years to come. Originally known as the Lifeway Retreat and Training Center, the building was completed in just 30 days, allowing both congregations to host their first Family Camp Meeting together that same summer. Women's conferences and other ministry events soon followed. That same year, the two congregations officially became Lifeway Ministries.

Growing Together
As the ministry continued to grow, worship services were gradually unified while maintaining ministry in both communities. The Greenville congregation relocated from its Highway 31 location to the current campus on Butler County Road 50 (now Honoraville Road). In 2016, Lifeway Ministries Troy moved into its current facility on U.S. Highway 29 South, providing additional opportunities for ministry and outreach. Today, Lifeway Ministries also extends beyond its physical campuses through weekly radio broadcasts and online livestreams, sharing the gospel with people throughout the region.
